Special Shopping Hours for Vulnerable Populations

The following stores are holding special shopping hours for senior citizens and other vulnerable populations. This list is updated frequently.

  • Albertsons – Some stores have adjusted hours, depending on location. Every store is open from 7:00am to 9:00am for the elderly and vulnerable to shop.
  • ALDI – ALDI stores will open at 8:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we ask that this first hour is reserved for our most vulnerable shoppers, including senior citizens, expectant mothers, and those with underlying health conditions. ALDI stores across the country will be open for regular hours from 9:00am to 7:00pm daily. Some stores may have limited hours to accommodate restocking and cleaning.
  • Capri IGA – 9:00am-10:00am for seniors and at risk customers.
  • Caputo’s – Tues/Weds/Thurs 6:00am-7:30am for seniors and immunocompromised.
  • Costco – Monday through Friday 9:00am-10:00am.
  • County Market – 6:00am – 8:00am
  • CVS – Stores and pharmacies are operating with normal hours.
  • Dill Pickle Food Co-op – 8:00am-9:00am daily.
  • Dollar General – Dollar General’s first hour of operations each day will be dedicated solely to the shopping needs of senior customers. Stores will also close an hour earlier in order for employees to clean and restock shelved.
  • Eurofresh Market – Tues/Thurs from 7:00am-9:00am for seniors.
  • Fairplay Foods – Tues/Thurs 7:00am-9:00am for vulnerable guests, including the elderly and those with underlying health concerns
  • Food 4 Less – Store hours 8:00am-8:00pm. Senior citizen shopping is designated for Tuesday/Friday 7:30am – 8:00 am.
  • Frank’s Fresh Market – 7:00am-9:00am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
  • Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market – 6:00am-8:00am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
  • Gambino’s Fresh Market – 7:00am-8:00am on Saturdays and Sundays
  • Heinen’s – 8:00am-9:00am daily.
  • Hy-Vee – The reserved hour will be from 7:00am to 8:00am, seven days a week, and is designed for customers ages 60 and older, expectant mothers, or anyone with an underlying health condition(s) that makes him/her more susceptible to serious illness. Pharmacies in most Hy-Vee locations will also be extending their hours so they can serve this group of customers from 7:00am to 8:00am These locations include pharmacies inside our grocery stores, Mainstreet locations, Dollar Fresh stores and Hy-Vee Drugstores. All other customers are asked to please respect this hour reserved for these at-risk customers, and limit their shopping to Hy-Vee’s new store hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week.
  • Illinois Valley Food & Deli – 7:00am-9:00am 7 days a week for elderly and anyone with a compromised immune system.
  • Jewel-Osco – 7:00am-9:00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Kohl’s – Most Kohl’s stores are currently operating on an 11:00am to 7:00pm schedule. Customers are encouraged to check with their local Kohl’s to confirm these hours.
  • Kramer Foods – 7:30am-8:00am Monday through Saturday, and 8:00am-8:30am on Sundays.
  • Kroger – 7:00am-8:00am Monday through Thursday. Kroger is America’s largest grocer—operating thousands of markets over a dozen brand names including Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Fry’s Food Stores, Food 4 Less, Foods Co., Fred Meyer, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Jay-C Food Stores, King Soopers, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Owen’s Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick ‘N Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler Foods, and Smith’s Food and Drug. Adjusted store hours vary by location, but most are open from 7:00am to 9:00pm or 10:00pm. The store hours vary depending on brand name and market.   • Local Market Foods – 6:00am-7:00am daily.
  • Mariano’s – 6:00am-8:00am daily.
  • Meijer – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am – 8:00am.
  • Paxton IGA – Everyday 7:00am-9:00am for older adults and people “at risk”.
  • Pete’s Fresh Market – 7:00am-8:00am Monday through Friday.
  • Potash Markets – 7:00am – 9:00am Tuesday and Friday.
  • Sam’s Club – Starting Tuesday, March 17, stores will be open 9:00am to 8:00pm. Sunday hours will remain 10:00am to 6:00pm.
  • Schnucks – Beginning on Wednesday, March 18 and continuing indefinitely, Schnucks is reserving the first hour of each day – from 6:00am to 7:00am – for shopping by seniors aged 60 and above, and for those who are most at risk of COVID-19.
  • Shop & Save Market – 6:00am-7:00am daily.
  • Sugar Beet Food Co-op – 10:00am-11:00am Monday through Sunday.
  • Sunset Foods – 7:00am – 8:00am
  • Tammy’s Piggly Wiggly – 7:00am-8:00am
  • Target – All Target stores will be closing at 9:00pm daily so stores will be replenished and deep cleaned. Also beginning March 18, Target will reserve the first hour of shopping each Wednesday at stores nationwide for vulnerable guests – including elderly and those with underlying health concerns. Target is encouraging other guests to plan their shopping trips around this timeframe.
  • Teddy’s Fruit and Meat Market – 7:00am-9:00am Monday through Saturday, 7:00am-8:00am on Sundays.
  • Tony’s – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00am-9:00am
  • Trader Joe’s – Until further notice, all Trader Joe’s stores will be open from 9:00am until 7:00pm.
  • Walgreens – 8:00am-9:00am on Tuesdays
  • Walmart – Walmart U.S. stores will adjust operating hours to 7:00am to 8:30pm. Stores that open later than 7:00am will continue their regular starting hours. Beginning March 24, Walmart stores will host an hour-long senior shopping event every Tuesday for customers aged 60 and older. This will start one hour before the store opens.  Our pharmacies and Vision Centers will also be open during this time. Stores will have limits for customers in certain categories including paper products, milk, eggs, cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, water, diapers, wipes, formula and baby food.
  • Whole Foods – Starting on Wednesday, March 18, all Whole Foods Market stores in the U.S. and Canada will service customers who are 60 and older one hour before opening to the general public, under the new adjusted hours posted on the store’s web page
  • Valli Produce – Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00am-8:00am are designated for seniors beginning March 31.
