GOVERNOR’S BRIEFING

Governor JB Pritzker briefed on efforts to contain the violent protests that have rocked areas around the state but particularly the city of Chicago. He was joined by the Assistant Deputy Director of the Illinois State Police and the commanding general of the Illinois National Guard. The ISP is adding 300 more troopers and 250 more Guard members for areas outside Chicago. Additionally, the Governor issued a disaster proclamation for nine counties in Illinois. The nine counties are: Champaign, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Macon, Madison, Sangamon, and Will.

REGIONAL PROGRESS REPORT

Under the Governor’s Restore Illinois plan, in order to move from Phase 3 to Phase 4, each of the four medical regions must have a surge capacity of at least 14% for hospital beds, ICU beds and ventilators. The positivity rating for the region must be under 20% for a 14-day period. Any number in red means that region has not met the capacity requirement for that category. These numbers are calculated on 14-day rolling periods with a 3-day delay. Readers can find all the stats below, and more, here

RETAIL CARES

IRMA launched a campaign called Illinois Retail Cares. It is an effort to tell the story of the many efforts retailers have undertaken during the pandemic to meet the needs of the hungry, healthcare workers, first responders, etc. These are efforts above-and-beyond the herculean efforts retailers have undertaken to meet the demands of consumers. Each week new stories will be told. If you have a story to share, we would love to share it! Please email your story to us today.
