IL Covid – 19 Update #120

SUMMARY of the DAILY REPORT

  • Region 4 receives additional mitigation requirements
  • Region 7 receives mitigation requirements.
  • Today’s State numbers: 1,612 new confirmed cases with 8 deaths
    • Sunday: 1,893 new confirmed cases with 6 deaths
    • Saturday: 2,356 new confirmed cases with 17 deaths
    • Friday: 2,208 new confirmed cases with 24 deaths
    • Thursday: 1,832 new confirmed cases with 27 deaths

REGION 4 (METRO-EAST) AND 7 (WILL AND KANKAKEE) MITIGATION 

Region 4 receives additional mitigation while Region 7 receives initial mitigation efforts. The new mitigation requirements will begin Wednesday. 

  • In both regions 4 AND 7, indoor dining will now be suspended. 
    • Only outdoor will be allowed. 
    • Reservations will still be required with contact information for at least one member of the party. 
  • In Region 7, restaurants and taverns must be closed by 11:00 p.m. 
    • This mitigation step is already in place in Region 4. 
    • Closure does not apply to drive-thru, curbside or delivery. 
  • In Region 7 gaming and casinos must close at 11:00 p.m. and are limited to 25% capacity. 
    • This mitigation step is already in place in Region 4.
    • IDPH has not made a final determination on the rules for taverns or restaurants that have gaming machines. That determination will be made in the next few hours.  
  • In both regions 4 and 7 Reception halls are closed and no party buses. This means restaurants or taverns can not hold receptions. 

In order for the mitigation efforts to be removed, a region must achieve a positivity rate of at least 6.5%. 

STATE COVID-19 IMPACT UPDATE

In the last 24 hours there has been 1,612 new confirmed cases and 8 deaths. 

IDPH is reporting a total of 221790 cases, to date, including 7,888 deaths. 

The state has conducted 3,740,191 tests to-date.

CHICAGO COVID-19 IMPACT UPDATE

In order for Chicago to move to the Moderate Incidence risk level which will allow the city to open up capacity to 50% and allow gatherings of up to 100 people, it has to get below 100 new cases per day and stay there for 14 days.

The per day averages citywide as of August 23rd are 340 confirmed cases, 4,712 tests completed, and 2 deaths (based on a 7 day rolling average).

To date, there has been 68,720 confirmed cases in the City of Chicago with 2,854 confirmed deaths and a 7.2% positivity rate.

NEW METRICS

As you are aware from IRMA’s last notice, the Administration will now use the following metrics to determine whether or not a region is moving forward or backward. 

  1. Sustained increase in 7-day rolling average (7 out of 10-days) in the positivity rate and ONE of the following severity indicators:
    • Sustained 7-day increase in hospital admissions for a COVID-19 like illness;
    • Reduction in hospital capacity threatening surge capabilities (ICU capacity or medical/surgical beds < 20%)

2. Three consecutive days averaging ≥ 8% positivity rate

Once a region meets the resurgence criteria, the following tiered menu of mitigation options will be considered. If sustained increases in health metrics continue unabated, further mitigations could be added from additional tiers.
