The challenges facing employers in Illinois have never been greater. Demands for minimum wage increases, paid sick leave, scheduling restrictions, state spending, desired tax revenue, and a host of other legislative proposals continue to escalate. It is vital that Illinois policy makers hear the voice of the employer community - your involvement in Business Day can make that possible.

Wednesday, April 26th is the Illinois Retail Merchants Association’s Annual Business Day – the largest gathering of employers in the Capitol. This day brings you and other employers face-to-face with leaders of Illinois government. Business Day is a great opportunity to participate in the legislative process and an excellent chance to speak directly with Members of the Assembly while they are considering legislation that directly impacts your bottom line.

Business Day begins with a luncheon at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel in downtown Springfield. The day will proceed with an afternoon visit to the Statehouse that provides attendees with an opportunity to meet with legislators in their offices and in the halls of the Capitol. Finally, the day concludes with an evening outdoor reception complete with food, drink, and live music. From 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. you are likely to run into members of the Assembly, Governor’s office, staff, colleagues, and friends at the now legendary, “Party under the Tent.”
